Jobs with government |
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) covers most of the group 'B' services, group 'C' services and other posts in various ministries. While UPSC offers close to 5,000 posts per year through the various examinations it conducts, SSC offers close to 30,000 Central Government jobs each year.
Ideally, aspirants should start their preparations for CGL examination as early as possible. This will enable them to get selected at an early age and will give them seniority in their department. This will ensure that their career is long enough for them to reach the topmost positions in the service they choose. For example, if candidate A joins a certain ministry at the age of 21 through CGL while candidate B joins the same ministry through the UPSC’s Civil Services examination at the age of 30 or more, then candidate A may well be in a senior or comparable position.
It is also noteworthy that the upper age limit for appearing for CGL exam is only 27 years. For this reason as well, it is important that you should start your preparation as early as possible.
CGL Exam aspirants should start their preparations by going through mathematics textbooks of Std. 6 to10. These books will give them a good grasp of concepts in topics like ratio and proportion, time speed and distance, profit and loss and so on. Simultaneously, they should also start working on improving their vocabulary and their understanding of grammar. Again, school level books on grammar can be very useful for aspirants who are just beginning their preparation.
Aspirants should also make it a habit to read at least one good newspaper daily. This will be of immense help in the General Awareness section of the Tier I paper.
